MAXGARD® 300: UV Absorber Benzophenone-6

Chemical Name:
Benzophenone - 6
CAS Numbers:
131-54-4

MAXGARD 300 (benzophenone-6) is an ultraviolet light (UV) absorber which protects plastics and coatings from damages from ultraviolet (UV) radiation. It is less expensive than equivalent tetrasubstituted benzophenone ultraviolet light (UV) absorbers.

Application Details:

MAXGARD 300 (benzophenone-6) absorbs ultraviolet light, thereby increasing the lightfastness of dyes on polyester window film and polyester fabrics. It is also used to stabilize plastics, coatings, such as polyurethanes, furniture stains and varnishes, nitrocellulose lacquers, fluorescent pigments and photographic emulsions, textiles and adhesives.

Empirical Formula: C15H14O5
Physical Appearance: Light Yellow Powder
Mass Density: 1.34g/cm3 at 25°C
Melting Point: 130-132°C
Solubility in Water: Nil

MAXGARD® 400: UV Stabilizer Benzophenone-1

Chemical Name:
Benzophenone - 1
CAS Numbers:
131-56-6

MAXGARD 400 (benzophenone-1) is an ultraviolet light (UV) stabilizer that protects plastics and coatings from UV radiation in sunlight. It is soluble in a wide range of solvents, compatible with most polymers and imparts less color to the substrate than most other ultraviolet light (UV) stabilizers when added to a plastic or coating system.

Application Details:

MAXGARD 400 is an ultraviolet light (UV) stabilizer which is used in plastics, such as polystyrene, acrylic sheet, epoxy and unsaturated polyesters, coatings, such as nitrocellulose lacquers and varnishes, adhesives, such as pressure sensitive acrylic adhesives, and textiles, such as dyed polyester fabrics.

Empirical Formula: C13H10O3
Physical Appearance: Off-White Powder
Mass Density: 1.27g/cm3 at 25°C
Melting Range: 140-143°C
Solubility in Water: Nil
